Building the stage for every young Caribbean voice.
Jamatics is a Caribbean youth creative arts movement — born from a simple belief: every child has a voice, and every voice deserves a stage where it will be heard.

Born from a tradition. Built for the next generation.
Jamatics was founded by O'Maro Bekelé — drummer, dub poet, theatre director, and educator — to address something he had been watching for years: too many young Jamaicans with extraordinary creative gifts were never given the platforms, mentors, or serious training to develop them.
The movement grew out of his own classroom work at Shortwood Practising Primary School and his decades of experience in Caribbean theatre, drum, and dub poetry traditions. He saw what happened when children were given the right space — they didn't just perform. They transformed.
Today, Jamatics offers workshops, mentorship, competitions, and programs across schools, churches, and communities — all anchored by one principle: when you give a young person a real stage, they will rise to meet it.
Three values that shape everything we do.
From workshops to flagship competitions, every Jamatics program is built on these three foundations.
Voice First
Every child carries something worth hearing. Our job is to build the space where they can find it, refine it, and share it with confidence.
Cultural Roots
Caribbean storytelling, dub poetry, folk theatre, and rhythm are our inheritance. Every program connects young people to where they come from.
Real Craft
Not performance for performance's sake. Real training, real mentorship, real standards — the kind of work that holds up on any stage.

Drummer · Dub Poet · Theatre Director · Educator
Bekelé is a multi-hyphenate Jamaican creative rooted in Caribbean cultural tradition. His work spans drumming, dub poetry, folk theatre, and arts education — all guided by his signature philosophy: Oneness in Progress.
He founded Jamatics to give young Jamaicans the same kind of platform that shaped him as an artist — one that takes their voices seriously, honours where they come from, and builds them toward something real.
